Charles Kaliman’s experience in the apparel industry and global sourcing covers nearly every functionality from merchandising to production.

Charles is the founder and CEO of Kaliman Consulting. He has been in leadership positions in merchandising and sourcing, holding P&L and operational responsibility at Fortune 500 companies. Charles specializes in global sourcing, vendor management and merchandising; his areas of expertise include outsourcing, nearshoring, production planning, product development and product lifecycle management. He has collaborated with senior executives launching national brands such as INC, Structure, Henry Cotton’s and Everlast.

Charles developed relationships with leading global vendors and travelled extensively to factories in Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Central America implementing sourcing initiatives. Among his accomplishments, he established a US operational platform for a major Italian brand and implemented a sourcing process for off-shore manufacturing; this included strategic vendor selections, fabric procurement procedures and quality assurance protocols. Most recently, he developed strategic sourcing plans for an on-line brand. Advised the company on its short-term and long-term procurement efforts including product development, design, quality assurance and manufacturing processes. Prior to founding Kaliman Consulting, Charles was the Sourcing Director for Sears Holdings where he directed pre-production and global sourcing for numerous apparel brands. At Sears he developed off-shore and near-shore vendor plans and led operational improvements initiatives to reduce time-to-market. For selected brands, he established operational strategies outsourcing product development and reallocating internal design to global suppliers.

Charles held sourcing and product development leadership positions at Henry Cotton’s, PVH, JCrew, Macy’s and Federated Merchandising. Charles has a BA in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and received his MBA from the Columbia Business School.
